hi, can anyone help please, do you know of any car insurance company that allows you to pay monthly by internet banking, the company im currently with allows monthly payments but only by DD, i have just changed from a current account to a basic one, with no OD, DD , Debit card etc, so i can control when the payments are made, but my insurance companys are the only ones out of all my payments that dont deal with internet banking,
can anyone help? ps also looking for life and home that accept payments by IB, Thanks in advance

i have been on the internet all eveing, i can find plenty of insurance companys that are coming in and around what i pay at the mo, but none actually say they will let you pay via Internet banking, they just specify DD, anyone know of any, maybe i will fone around a few in the morning,0

im pretty sure noone will let you do this. a direct debit is where the company controls what and when they take from you and can only be cancelled with them or the bank. therefore they are pretty much guaranteed to get something from you. if you do a standing order via internet banking you can cancel at any time therefore they might not get anything.
you could do what i do and get an interest free credit card. pay the whole year then set up monthly payments to your credit card from your internet bank. works out chepre than paying monthly as insurance ocmpanies normally charge you interest. also try and use cashback sites when getting your insurance as mopst pay aroudn £50 for new insurance policies.
hope this helpslove you lots like jelly tots0 -
thanks for that, sorted now, Abbey let you come in and pay in their office, i have just saved £97 on my car insurance, and £147 on my home insurance!!! yipeee, just need life insurance now, that might prove a bit harder to get my mitts on! thanks for your help, im nearly there, the RCA lets you pay by internet banking, as do my mortatge company, CC company and loan company, so just the Life Insurance to go now,0

Piglet, just out of interest, why did you switch to a basic account when your affairs are obviously complex enough to need a full-service current account.
If you were being charged then all you needed to do was change banks. Nearly all current accounts are now free of fees.0 -
