Another question - Car loan

Further to my claim against Bank Of Scotland Card Services re unfair penalty charges on a Visa card, I was wondering if the same rules apply to Finance Companies?

I had a car loan which was paid off in 2006. For the same reason as before (I live/work abroad a lot), my payments were sporadic, in a "I'll pay whenever I'm home" kinda way. From memory I seem to recall receiving LOTS of really heavy charges for late payments and computer generated letters.

Can I write to them in the same way as I have regards bank accounts and credit cards and request details of all charges incurred over the last six years and reclaim them? From what I can see from the paperwork I have found they seem to be based in Northern Ireland, which of course is still UK.

As I say, the account was cleared over two years ago, I actually paid it off early, and I'm pretty sure they charged me for doing that too!

Any advice very much appreciated.

Thanks.
