Where do you buy your block Parmesan cheese?

Where do you buy your block Parmesan cheese?

I'm doing the ministry of food book and getting through lots of Parmesan.

I got one from Asda last week (actually its Grana Padano - which is a cheaper look-a-like), I think it was about £10 a kilo.

Is that the usual price?

Can I get it for less than £10 a kilo in the main supermarkets?

Thank you:beer:

Lidl have excellent Parmesan. and comes with the rind so you can pop that into soups when you're done with the cheese.

    Lidl.
    It's about 3 quid for 250g/300g.
I chop it in half and freeze what I don't need
  • I like Lidl's parmesan too, it was surprisingly good and probably the cheapest I found out of all the local supermarkets.

Failing that, you *might* be able to get it cheaper if you ask a local deli to get you a kilo in. The kilo blocks aren't that huge, really, and if you buy a whole block they might do you a discount. They might not, but it's worth being cheeky and asking.

I picked up about 7 vacuum packed lumps from Mr A's a few weeks ago - all y/s so it worked out to be about 1.5 kilo for £9...so I was happy! They are all in the freezer now :)
