Hi emmington
Is it your 'p' key that's broken, by any chance?
If you're going to be sharing a house with your mates I think the deal should be 'everyone pays their share or the deal's off'
If you want to post a statement of affairs we can do some checking to see if we can suggest ways of increasing your income/decreasing your expenditure/managing your debts.
It's a bit hard to do without solid info.
There's a calculator here.0 -
Hi Yes it is that articular button that is broken. Nightmare. Here is what you asked for; I gather that this will accommodate what you were after..... thanks!!!!!!
Congratulations on completing your SOA. What you need to do now is to highlight, copy and paste everything (yes, I mean everything) below the line into a post on the MSE website. When you have done that, you can type any other relevant information at the end of the post.

Hi all,
I am a good friend of Emmington's and have some knowledge of her circumstances. The fact that her "P" key doesn't work is not a great help either so I have got her permission to post some of her info which she will clear up in more detail later. She is needing real help....and not just with a new keyboard.
Emmington is fully employed and due to a quirk of accounting we get paid every 4 weeks (we work for the same job). The bonus of this is that we get 13 not 12 pay packets a year, but the downside is that if you are a financial nightmare like us it becomes hard to manage money because payday is different every month as the year cycles round. Direct debits are a pain in the behind to manage when you are paid like this. Anyway....I digress.
She rents a house with two house-mates who have just recently become unemployed. Whilst they hunt for work Emm is left paying the bills, and she has debt problems of her own. We both work in jobs that frown on debt so this needs to be fixed without too much time being wasted, and as an aside, due to everything going wrong at once she may be in dire straits in her house as rent is overdue. Should she be evicted she will lose the security deposit, and be homeless too. Awesome. She needs help from people who can pull her out of the fire, and I have recommended this site as I have seen countless people saved in the nick of time in similar/worse circumstances.:j
Right....down the where the metal meets the meat:
Incomings: £1600 - paid every 4 weeks. Overtime not guaranteed, but can be as much as £200 extra in each pay packet. Emm has signed up to do loads of extra shifts to get some extra loot coming in.
Outgoings:
Rent - £800
Council tax - £100
Sky TV - £ 40
phone/internet -£200 every 3 months
food/groceries - £250 per month
Booze - £50 per month
Bills:
Loan 1 - £150
Loan 2 - £50
C/cards - £100
A more detailed SOA is being compiled right now and she will post this when completed.
The rent on her house was due over a week ago and all the money is gone this month as she had to pay £1600 rent/security deposit in advance.
She recently quit smoking so there is some small amount of extra ching there, and she is aware that sky tv might be going out the window, along with cheaper shopping on the way.
No savings to raid as such, and house-mates are looking for work....although if they look too long then they might be getting a rocket up the butt to "move things along a little". I believe that bills are shared.....just while they are unemployed she is bak rolling the home. Refunds of any bills incurred will be refunded as they are real friends, not waster/spunger types.
Emma - over to you.........I know you are rubbish with computers, but hey - now you get to learn how to cut and paste as well as get out of the red (I hope!!)FD claim WON!!!!

Is the APR for those loans correct?
There are a few savings you could make highlighted above.
Is your credit rating good enough to get a 0% credit card or one with a lower interest rate to transfer those high APR debts to?

Hi
I hate to say this but you aren't a charity and you need to set up an agreement that each person pays their share of the rent to the landlord and for that matter see if they will take over the council tax so you aren't left paying for everyone or being held responsible for everyone.
You've had good advice about cutting back but if you weren't bank rolling everyone else you would have such a problem.0 -
Totally agree - make sure that anything extra you have been paying on behalf of others is logged and they agree to pay this back.
If you need a p (i know that sounds bad), hold down the ALT key and on the number keypad type 0122
Secured loan repayments................. 50
This is a priority debt and you must make sure this is paid before any unsecured debts like the creditcard
Council tax............................. 100
If paying over 10 months, can you ask to pay it over 12?
Electricity............................. 50
Gas..................................... 50
Look at the comparison sites to see you are getting a good deal (uswitch, moneysupermarket) make sure everything is turned off at night and possibly switch to energy saving bulbs
Mobile phone............................ 70
PAYG?
Telephone (land line)................... 50
Satellite/Cable TV...................... 40
Internet Services....................... 0
Is this a package deal?
Groceries etc. ......................... 250
How many is this for? Have you moved down a brand? (shops own) Have a look at the oldstyle board for mealplans.
Clothing................................ 100
every month?
Other travel............................ 0
Do you walk/cycle to work?
Pet insurance/vet bills................. 50
Contents insurance...................... 10
Again, check the comparison sites to see you are getting the best deal.
Presents (birthday, christmas etc)...... 20
Haircuts................................ 100
These need to be cut back - you can't afford this much
If these are monthly bills, your wage would work out to approx 1720 per month (4.3 weeks per month)
I agree with Beanie - if those APR's are correct, that's just plain scary.
As suggested a 0% card may help. Not sure what you currently have, but virgin are offerring 0% for 16 months and the minimum monthly payment is only £25 from the 2nd month which may give you a little breathing space. Even then you will need to make sure that after the 16 months are over you will be able to pay more than the minimum or transfer this to another card. It looks very tight right now, especially with you carrying others. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
The hair thing is that amount every six weeks not every month and yes I guess I could maybe find an alternative. The groceries bill is high because I am getting it for everyone else. Yes I know I am stuid. The phone bill; I could get pay as you go but a phone is essential to my work and so if I didnt have credit I would be a bit stuffed really. I get the train to work for free so no money spent there. I think that really my problem is not only not having enough money but also not being particularly organised when it comes to paying stuff. I.E. I do not get on with direct debits at all and never really take note of how much I have; I just take the money out and spend it without realising that it should be for bills and in fact I shouldn't be spending any. Any tips on organisational skills appreciated???0

Oh and the credit card thing with zero percent is a really good idea however unfortunately my credit rating is so pants that I cannot get credit agreed for anything that isn't a zillion percent.0
