Pot luck supper suggestions

Hi all. I'm going to a pot luck supper this weekend, where everyone brings a dish to share. As it's going to be quite an international affair, I thought I should make something British (I'll be one of the only Brits there). Does anyone have any good (and easy) suggestions for a typically British dish? I don't normally do much of that myself. It can be a main course or dessert but must be able to be taken in a single pot/box. It can be reheated at the party if need be.

Thanks in advance! I'll let you all know what I finally decide on.

  • I would definitely go for either a fruit crumble of some kind, or sheperds pie. Both relatively cheap and easy to make, easy to transport, easy to reheat, seasonally appropriate - and tasty & typically British !

Apple and rhubarb crumble, maybe with some ginger and/or cinnamon in there to give it a spicy kick ? Make the sheperds pie with a fairly thick gravy to help it stand up to transporting better. There will no doubt be better recipes in the OS files for both these things than I can give right now, I just tend to make em up as I go along :)

Good luck, let us know how you get on !

Thanks for all those suggestions. I had some of these in mind as well, so it's good I was on the right lines.

@ OddjobKIA Lol, yes I suppose curry is quintessentially English fare. My wife's from Nepal so she could help me with that one!
