Desperately seeking coconut candy (not coconut ice)

My father-in-law, who is 86, has been talking about how much he used to love coconut candy so I've been trying to find some to no avail.
It's definitely not coconut ice, but it was apparently brown or yellow and had a consistency a bit harder than fudge with shreds of coconut in it. It was sold either as individual "sweets" by the quarter or as a bar (similar to coconut ice).
I have to admit that I'd never heard of it before, but all my web searches have come up with nothing. Don't know if it's a regional thing perhaps - father-in-law is from the London area and I'm originally from the North of Scotland, so perhaps it didn't reach as far as the frozen North.
Would be really grateful if anyone even knows what I'm on about or where I could buy some.
Thank you!

Probably way off, but:

I think I know what your father-in-law means. My mother used to make what we called "tablet" but it was white with coconut through it. She cut it into bars, like traditional tablet. I have never seen it anywhere in the shops, and everybody thinks you are talking about coconut ice, which it definitely isn't!
It was an old family recipe, if you want to try it I can look out the recipe.
I have tried making it myself many times but am not the best cook and half the time I can't get it to set properly (still tastes lovely though).0 -

That looks pretty much what my mum made. Strange, I have been in that shop in Largs and also one in Glasgow (don't know if it's the same company though) but have never seen it. I must make a wee trip down at the weekend, I have a notion for some myself now0
