some advice re out to sort out.

Hello, I am facing a huge problem. I am about 30 k in debt I do have a job and due to personal circumstances last year (I lost my mother) I went onto a self destruction mode. I basically took the decision that it was not worth it anymore. I started to lose money left right and centre (by losing I mean buying shares knowing that they would go down the pan) yes I know I sound crazy, I probably was etc. I did not spend anything or anything fancy, I had about 30K in credit and just went on self destruction. Reality now kicks in. I am still repaying the money bank to my credit cards etc, however I am not sure how long I will be able to do that for ( I know I probably was affected by depression but it is not an excuse)...

I do not own an house any longer and sold that, I am staying with my ex partner (she took pity on me ) and she is renting a private accommodation. My dilemma is quite simple what can I do? I know Bankruptcy is the easy way out for some but I would like to avoid that. I am also planning to emigrate to Australia in a few years with obviously debt free.

Sorry if I sound like a complete loony but I think I just come back to reality all of a sudden, I never been in debt before and my credit score until last year was immaculate (even now I have to force credit cards companies NOT to increase my credit available) …….

  • Hi and welcome to the site.
Firstly, sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Grief affects people in different ways so don't feel you have to apologise for how you handled it.
The main thing is you now want to sort your debt. Why not speak to the CCCS and see what they recommend? I have always found them to be approachable and non judgmental.
Also it may be a good idea to post a SOA. Some other nice person will be along with the link shortly I'm sure.
    Good luck
    Miss P
    xx
