Need to get a coat or warm jacket for my eldest DD - she's into ladies sizes now. It has to be black for school, and she likes the military style ones, but funds are tight at the moment, so I wondered if anyone knew of any bargains out there...

Have you tried Primark and Peacocks?
Always a good place to start I reckon, followed by Tesco, Asda etc as you're doing the regular shop.Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -

I got a nice warm black coat in Tesco a couple of weeks ago, it was £40, they tend to have things for a few weeks and then half price them so look out for a bargain. My DD paid over £100 for a similar coat last winter, hers is a bit more fashionable but mine is a classic design and will last a few years as I don't wear long coats much.0

The £15 asda one is really flattering http://direct.asda.com/The-Little-Black-Coat/GEM2211,default,pd.html
out of stock online, but worth a trip to your local Asda if she likes it.0 -
Try T J Hughes or T K Max on their clearance section, some amazing bargains if you are prepared to rumage through. Alternatively try H & M. Good hunting :idea:0

I've often bought coats from supermarkets and they've been fine. THey won't last forever but then you prob don't ned them to if your daughter is still growing.Debt cleared! [strike]£13,128[/strike] £0!!!
Saving for maternity leave: £3,300/£3500

I`ve always avoided Takkimax on the grounds that it is less organised than a jumble sale. I wandered in by accident yesterday and was amazed to find coats and shoes organised by size. Brilliant! They still only have anything good in the wrong size though.
What about good old BHS? Every high St. has one, lots of choice and good value.
Everything is properly displayed too, each style in all the sizes no need to rummage
