Full & Final to get rid of overdraft?

Hi Folks,
I'm considering offering my bank a full and final settlement on my outstanding overdraft. I've been made redundant (last week) and currently have a little bit of cash available, although it will soon be absorbed into bills and living costs if i dont do anything with it!
So my question is, at the moment im on a repayment plan but have a few thousand left to pay. The bank has not made an entry on my credit record as yet and im concerned that if they accept the F&F offer, they will automatically add a default to my file?
Any ideas?
