Last blow-out before clearing debts

I've been in debt for 12 years. It was £24500 at its highest and is now just over £9000.
Fortunately I've built up to a much better paid job and I'm clearing the debt much quicker since about 2 years ago.
My OH has never even been overdrawn and has looked after me whilst I have been poor.
We have managed to save up for a month travelling in New Zealand and we leave tomorrow. I know the money-saving wisdom is to clear debts first and then save, but it's hard to impose that on someone else when they were not responsible for running up the debt in the first place.
We are going to have the trip of a lifetime and then I will knuckle down and get rid of the last few thousand once and for all.
I wish a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all money savers and I will be posting on my return to tell about my debt progress and find inspiration to make the last push.

Long haul flights  well for me it's lots of reading material, a good MP3 player with all my favourite tunes, a Nightol to get me off to sleep. Drink lots of water, not too much alcohol, eat the food if it's edible, take a few snacks just in case it's not ( Beware of Chocolate as it melts and sticks everywhere and oranges are a bit antisocial LOL).
In your hand luggage take a change of top and undies and a cutdown washbag, you will probably be able to get a shower at the stopover (you can if it's Singapore)
Thank you for doing the research for me I look forward to hearing all about it, have a wonderful holiday.0 -
wow - top tip about Singapore airport shower facilities - that is where we connect!
Got the change of clothes and washbag but couldn't persuade OH to buy MP3 player
Never mind - he'll have to talk to me instead! :rotfl:
thanks for the tips!
Back in January!
