i have just been informed by my local council that i have been allocateda property :j and i can move in a couple of weeks!
i havent had a look at the actual house yet, but i have had a look around the area, and it seems quite nice - not on a big estate etc. Plus, despite being told that I would be offered a two bedroom property (which i would have accepted as beggers cant be choosers!) this house is a three bedroom, which means I dont have to share a room with DD2!
more importantly, it means that the meagre £10 per week i am paying off my rent arrears will actually reduce the arrears, instead of them still going up by £25 per week!:j
thought i would post this on a new thread instead of my old one, as i feel this is more positive!!

i understand your frustration - but please believe me, i am not a queue jumper! I have been on the list for nearly five years, and for the past couple of years have been really struggling where i am now (private rented) due to rent increases. I also have health problems, and a few month back reached crisis point health wise. The council became involved, due to me being threatened with homelessness (i have two daughters) and after a very anxious wait, they upped my points to the maximum as they were trying to find me something based on my points (where i would have some choice) rather than waiting for an actual homeless application - no choice at all.
Obviously there is such a social housing shortage that they cant house everyone, perhaps the young girl you referred to had other issues as well?
I do hope you get sorted soon though!0 -

oh sweetie i didnt for one minute mean it to sound as if i was claiming you to be something you are not. i totally understand not everyones situation is as black and white as it seems and i wouldnt deny anyone of housing when they needed it. I only used this girl as an example as i know all of her situation, i also know her parents who have never worked have a 5 bedroom housing association house eventhough the live on their own... ah well onwards i plod2025 Wins ::
