Ginger Nuts recipe?

Hi all

I would love to try making ginger nuts - just like Mcvities (well, Sainsburys cheapos, but you know what I mean). Only recipes I can find on here is for ginger bread (which I think is very different). There are recipes on the net at large - which I might try at some point - but I just wondered if there were any recipes people had of their own (that were tried and tested!).

    50 g granulated sugar
    1 rounded tbs syrup

    Makes 16 biscuits

    Preparation
    1. Prepare self and unit, (wash hands, apron on, wipe table)
    2. Collect recipe, put ingredients on white tray and get out equipment
    3. Check position of shelves in oven, light oven 1800c, Gas 4.
    4. Grease baking tray

    Method
    5. Sieve the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda into mixing bowl
*** put tbs flour onto a plate ( may use later if mixture too wet )
    6. Put margarine, sugar and syrup into the pan.
    7. Gently melt the margarine mixture over a LOW heat. Do not allow to boil.
    8. Pour the melted mixture into the mixing bowl.
Mix with a wooden spoon. ( if mixture very soft add a little of spare flour)
    9. Divide the mixture into 16 equal pieces .

The biscuits go crisp when they are cold.
    13. Loosen the biscuits on the tray and then allow to cool on the baking tray for 5 mins before placing on the cooling tray.

    Serving
Serve the biscuits as a snack with a drink, in a packed lunch or at tea time.

    Storage
Store in an air-tight container to keep fresh., only when the biscuits are completely cold

    Modification
Different shapes : if the dough is rolled out carefully, cut out shapes , people, stars,
    Christmas ideas etc
Decorate : use rolled out paste, writing icing, decorations etc.

There is no need to run outside
    For better seeing,
Nor to peer from a window.
Rather abide at the center of your being.

Not ginger nuts but have you tried Twinks hobnobs and add some chopped ginger and ground ginger. They are delicious.
  • Huge thanks and sorry for not responding before. I'll try making these at the weekend and report back!
