Not the Delia one but this was in the observer magazine a while ago. I have made them few times and I think they are delish!
250g plain flour
3 tbsp castor sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3tbsp unsalted butter, softened
100g raisins ( optional)
1 large egg
75g buttermilk (Mix together with the egg) you can also use yogurt if no buttermilk.
extra buttermilk and sugar for top of scones
I won't put in the method as I am sure it will be the same as for all scones, but knead lightly for no more than 10 seconds
bake at 200c or gas mark 6 for 15-20mins0 -
Hi aliwali,
I can't post the recipe here for copyright reasons but here are the ingredients:
8 0oz self-raising flour
1 1/2 oz caster sugar
3 oz butter at room temperature
2 oz mixed dried frut
1 size 1 egg
3-4 tablespoons of buttermilk to mix
a little extra flour for dusting tops.
The method is the same as in the link that pol posted but add the mixed fruit before adding the beaten egg and buttermilk.

I made buttermilk scones just yesterday. The recipe I use is really simple and fail safe.
450g SR Flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp icing sugar
60g butter
430ml buttermilk
Sift dry ingredients into large bowl, rub in butter, stir in enough buttermilk to mix to a soft sticky dough.
knead dough on a floured surface until smooth.
press dough out till 2cm thick,
cut into rounds,
place in a baking tray
Hot oven for 15 minutes
Simple as and delicious too.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
