I have spoken to CCCS this morning and they have said that Bailiffs wont extend the debt to anymore than 3mths.
So she has suggested offering an initial payment of £50 followed by 3mths of £281.50 which she probably can't afford anyway.
Does this sound acceptable?0 -
Most local authorities insist that all payments made must clear the outstanding debt by the end of the financial year ie: end of March 2009.
Before agreeing an amount it would be worth reading the following from our website:
A bailiff will try to charge an "attending to remove/van fee" if you have defaulted on a payment arrangement. The simplest way to ensure that you default, is for the bailiff to insist on a repayment rate that is clearly not affordable.
Predictably, the first payment is made on time, and the second or third payment is late. You need to be aware that if you make a payment arrangement either with the bailiff or his office on for instance the 10th of May, the bailiff companies computer system will automatically generate a "removal notice" and bailiff visit if you are just one day late with your payment.
This is a very common tactic, in particular when the payment date falls on a weekend or bank holiday. For this reason, if you have to agree to sign a Walking Possession then you should agree before signing what amount you can pay. Your agreed payment should be made by debit/credit card to the bailiff company at least 3 days before the payment is due.0 -

Well we sent this offer by recorded delivery on the 13th November and have only just received a reply.
They have said they want payment in full within 7 days or they will arrange for the bailiffs to come around to make an arrangement.
Now the thing is she moved out of her house on the 1st December as they have managed to rent out the house. Obviously she shouldn't have to pay for the full year up till March 2009 as they are now out of the property.
The Council refuse to generate a new bill up to 1st December as it has been passed to the debt collection company and 'Swift Credit Services' will not reduce the amount.
What is next step?0 -
Bump, bumpIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

It's vital that the new tenants contact the council ASAP to advise them of their liability to pay council tax. You could also send a copy of the tenancy agreement to the council and to the bailiffs by recorded post with a covering letter?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
