mortgage payment Q

Basically I mixed up moving money around this month by a matter of hours and it meant my mortgage payment bounced which i accept happened.

Being in a position now where i'm trying to go DF and want to do the right thing so I rang up the lender and payed up with my visa.

Then this morning I go online to check my bank and it seems my lender has tried to get my mortgage payment again and my bank has refused it because funnily enough i dont have another £950 sitting about. If i did i would be on this board.

Now assuming my bank does the usual thing of charging my for an unpaid DD(there system is slow today so she couldnt tell me) then would i be within my rights to try and get my lender to pay me my bank charge?

Now when i was on the phone paying the lender no mention was made about the fact they will try and take the DD again. The person who took the payment was well aware of the fact i was making the payment becasue my DD failed.

So what does the DFW collective have to say?

No help at all I am sorry.

But I cancelled my DD for my mortgage over a yr ago and now pay over the phone with my card. This way I can mange my money more easily as I have until the last day of the month to pay, unlike beofre when the dd went out on 15th.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • thanks mum24 but DD's are just convenient and if i'm honest i'd forget to pay if i had to ring up each month.

If you paid the outstanding payment on the day it was due, or v close to it, there would already have been an automatic re-claim for the original amount, a politely worded letter SHOULD result in a refund of the Charge....should!
