Nails - base and top coat?

Having just bought four copies of Glamour magazine so as to get the free Nails Inc nail polish in every colour (:o) I'd quite like to invest in a decent base and top coat so my nail varnish actually stays on.

I've had a bit of a nose around the internet and have seen Orly Bonder base and Seche Vite top coat recommended, however these seem to be professional prducts and are quite tricky to find on UK websites without being a trade buyer or paying postage which is as pricey as the products themselves (and I can't even find a single site which sells both products to save on postage!)

Any suggestions - further recommendations for these products/ recommendations for alternative brands/ suggestions of good-value places to buy them?

    Thanks for the advice :)

I managed to find some Seche Vite in Boots yesterday. Considering that QVC charges £15 + £2.95 P&P for a twin pack, and Boots had it for £8.95 for a single bottle, it worked out almost exactly the same.

I picked up a Sally Hansen base coat while I was there.

Got home and did my nails and by this morning the whole lot had started peeling off  but then I suspect that was my fault for being too impatient between first and second coat of the actual colour  tso will try again tonight.

Stormcloudgathering - I might PM you in the future if I decide to try a new brand :)

I got some base and top coat from TK Maxx a while back, and found it very good. It's Nails Inc. (the same make as the ones in Glamour mag I think?) - I picked them up by the tills.

Can't remember how much it was, but it must have been pretty reasonable or I wouldn't have bought it!!:D

Sally hanson isnt the best base coat if you are using dark colours as it does allow seepage. OPI or Nails Inc

Under cover by Leighton Denny, best base coat I ever have used. Crystal finish is the top coat and this does look good on. You can buy it direct from his website or from QVC. The quality of nail varnish is also excellent.

Have you any experience on using all in one from his range? I usually use nail envy as my nails were growing but now happy with length and strength.
    Thanks

I use Creative's "Sticky" base coat. I nearly always wear nail varnish and I like this one best.

Totally agree Creative's Super Stickey (basecoat) and Super Shiney (topcoat) are amazing.

I love love love Leighton Denny's polishes but wasn't overly keen on the Undercover

I find nails inc is great for a couple of days and then peels right off - they have such good offers though I can put up with it.

I read once a technique for getting nails looking reasonably professional was to do all the coats of polish in quick succession, rather than waiting for them to dry in between. You then have to sit still for an hour afterwards but it does seem to look better.
