Moorcroft Debt Recovery

Morning all

I have had a letter this morning from Moorcroft Debt Recovery saying I am in default of my agreement with them and am in arrears of £44. The CCCS recently reduced my payments as I have had to pay for chilcare whilst I go to work but my normal repayments will resume once my son turns 3 at the end of December.

I have done all the right things, contacted CCCS and asked them to speak to Moorcroft, and I have also sent Moorcroft a letter explaining and enclosing my CCCS budget sheet.

The thing that worries me is that moorcroft have said in this letter that they may send someone to my home. Is this likely? Does anyone have any experience of Moorcroft? I'm not too worried but just wanted to know the likely outcome of this letter.

Thanks

Miss P

    Hi Miss Piggy,

Don't have any experience of DCAs myself, but from what I've read here:

    1. The chances of one of them turning up on your doorstep are only slightly less remote than finding a seagull tapdancing on your toaster ;)

    2. If someone does turn up, then unless you have made an agreed appointment with them they have no more legal rights than the paperboy or the milkman, so tell them to get lost (through the letterbox will do!) and call the police if they refuse to do as they are told!

    Hope that helps,

    ~Jes :)

  • Thanks Jesthar, you made me laugh!

I shall only start to worrry if I see a seagull wandering into my kitchen wearing a pair of tap-shoes then....

    Cheers

Just a standard letter these parasites send at every opportunity. You have done everything correctly so don,t worry about it .

Thanks. I figured as much. These letters don't scare me half as much as they used to but haven't had one in so long it came as a bit of a shock!!

    Cheers

Just had a visit from moorcroft debt collectors. This is how the conversation went:
Moorcroft:Hello, just calling to see if we can come to some arrangement regarding your outstanding debt.
    Me : Who are you.
Moorcroft: I am from moorcroft, and I am here to see if we can come to some arrangement about your debt, sorry but I am new to this.
Me : Debt? What debt, who are you looking for?
Moorcroft: I am looking for (she then takes out a sheet of paper) a Mrs **** ****** (giving my better halfs name).
Me: Well that's not me, is it??
Moorcroft: Oh! Does she live here?
    Me; Are you from moorcroft?
    Moorcroft: Yes.
Me: A letter has been sent to you people telling you that no debt is acknowledged to your company.
Moorcroft: Oh, I'll send this back to them.

I was surprised that they sent someone out, but I dealt with it accordingly. I hope this will be of help to anyone who is worried about doorstep collectors.:D :j
