How can I stop powdered foods congealing?

How can I prevent powdered food products such as Horlicks and Lucozade Sports congealing into a solid block in their cardboard packaging once the packet has been opened? (They're stored in a dry cupboard). I've just spent a frustrating 20 minutes grating a solid block of Lucozade Sports powder, dissolving it and storing it in bottles rather than throw away half a packet of the stuff. I find Horlicks also goes solid in glass jars too, and then it's impossible to remove it to smash down, for fear of breaking the glass.

sounds like they are still managing to get damp somehow. Have you tried filling in the empty top part with scrunched up kitchen towel so there is less air at the top of the container and then cling film before putting the top back on?

Agree, sounds like your cupboard is damp... try putting a saucer of salt in there, the salt should help suck up the dampness...

Definately damp, the silica packets in new shoes and handbags are useful for this problem if you pop them in the cupboard.

Like the others have said, there's a problem with damp in the cupboard.

If it's something that happens regularly, I'd be inclined to transfer the product into a plastic airtight container. That way, you'd stop the damp getting to it.
