I like freezer bags from Lidl - they can be boiled, nuked, etc. I don't however rely on the little wire tags - I use plastic clippits from Ikea.
You can buy freezer marking pens from a lot of kitchen departments in department stores, or i'm sure Lakeland limited will have them, but you'll have to pay a set rate for postage and packing.
I also love the lock n lock range of containers, but they really aren't cheap - lakeland do them too.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Asda do cheap containers and a huge range - they are really good for freezer meals...they also do some with 2 compartments so that you can freeze your curry and rice separately(not sure of the range name but very cheap also, are in green packaging). Also hold on to anything else you can use like Margarine Tubs et, Although not microwaveable can be used to freeze food.....
Hope this helpsHappy to be Debt Free!!!0 -

I bought a box of containers from Costco. They are like the individual metal containers that you get from the chinese but in plastic with lids. They can be microwaved and are dishwasher safe. I got a box of 100 and I think they were under £10.00.0

Wilkinsons do the plastic containers that you get your chinese in :0)
You can get a pack of 5 for 79p (or something like that!!).
They are fab, and are a perfect size, not too bulky!!
I hope that helps.0 -
Have you got a Poundland near you? Only they do a lot of containers of varying sizes suitable for freezers. The last batch I bought was 10 for £1. They sound very much like the ones Alison mentions she got from Costco.
You can write on the lids of these with a permanent marker pen.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

I've got the Costco plastic tubs and Costco ziplock bags; haven't decided which to use yet.
Sara - I'm going to be doing the same as you and starting about the same time; fancy collaborating on recipes?
JulesThe ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -

About the same as their litres of ice-cream cost, in fact (hint) :snow_laug
It will take you a while to accumulate, this way, but it's worth doing! :beer:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
This won't help this year but might help throughout next year and Christmas hols.
Save ice cream, butter etc, tubs. Place an empty freezer bag in the tub and fill with food and seal with a knot, freeze and then remove from tub and store in freezer. The block shapes mean you can maximise the space in the freezer.
I mark straight onto the bag with a waterproof magic marker and as far as I know the ink doesn't leach through the bag into the food.
Or if it does, none of us have suffered any side effects over the 30 odd years I've been doing this:xmassign:0
