Advice and info on BR, then getting job.

Hi,

I am unable to work at the moment and the CAB has suggested I think about going BR as have about £15k of debts. If I follow this through then get a job after going BR, so not on benefits what is likely to happen?

Thanks in advance for even any vaguely educated guesses as I don't know nowt at this stage!!

Once you are a discharged BR you have no worries regarding what you earn.

    You have a fresh start.

If your income changes while you are still an undischarged BR then thats different.

You will have to contact your OR and tell them about your change in circumstances.

Then they will decide if you have any surplus which to pay your creditors back.

So it may be in your best interests to wait until your BR is over then go ahead and get yourself a job.

Hope my limited knowledge helps in some way.

    Good luck.

It did. Now need to find out about how long before you are discharged!!

  • In England and Wales, normally discharge is automatic after 12 months, if early discharge doesn't shorten it...
