Does this really happen, Do companies write of debt?? In the Sun newpaper today I came across 2 companies who said they may be able to get your debt written off. How does getting debt written off work exactly?? If I could some of mine written of it would be a real help

They do write off debt, but only in exceptional circumstances. The 2 companies in the Sun are very likely con merchants.
They'll charge you a fee to 'negotiate' but with zip results. Stay well clear.0 -

i think you'll find they are reffering to an iva as that is probably the only way of getting most of the debt written off without going bankrupt
stay clear of any of these firms asking for money upfront
payplan and cc's are good none fee paying companies0
