iPod discounts?

Help please. I need to buy an Ipod for my OH for Christmas and the only ones I can seem to find in stock are the 30gig ones at £219. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyways of getting a discount from any ipod stockists. They would have to be high street not online as its a christmas pressie!

I hope that one of you can help me out. I have saved all my points up for Boots and now cannot find any in stock, grrrrrr.

Not a hope in hell :(
I'm afraid we've been searching everywhere for an Ipod nano on the high street and everywhere is sold out. We only saw 3 30gb ipods in stock anywhere too, so they are a rarity at this time of year as well.

    Good luck though
  • Does it have to be an ipod? I got a very nice discount on a creative zen 40 gigabyte player at dixons. Price i paid was £160 reduced from ticket price of £210.

To be honest i think it is better than the ipod. It has better battery life, comes with more freebies e.g carry case and you get more memory for your money. Sure it doesnt have the ipod name but i think i got a better deal.
  • Apple used to come down on retailers like a ton of bricks if they strayed too far from the retail prices, so you are unlikely to find much difference in prices. Not really in the spirit of fair trade and competition, is it?

  • You won't find discounts on current iPods anywhere simply because Apple has tight control of selling price. This is both bad - you won't get a bargain - and good - you pay pretty much the same price, give or take a pound or two, wherever you shop.

Everywhere around me is sold out of iPods, but Apple tends to keep its own stores stocked, so if you're in the vicinity of Regent St, Brent Cross, Manchester or Sheffield, you should find one in one of their stores.

I wouldn't touch the e-discounts link that another poster suggested. It doesn't get you any better deal that you could get yourself through Apple's own online education store, but it does provide e-discounts with a commission that they don't deserve.
