I have collected nectar points for a few years now, basically building them up to redeem them at christmas time to pay for my xmas booze from sainsbury's, this has worked for the last 2-3 years.

I went to sainsbury today and was told that because my Nectar card was not from sainsbury I could not redeem my points.

Has this happened to anyone else.

Did you go to your "home" store (ie the Sainsburys store where you first used your Nectar card)? Someone else on this site has had problems redeeming in a Sainsbury store that wasn't their "home" store. I believe you can change your "home" store via the Nectar website - not much use to you now.

Alternatively, were you using the vouchers that you can convert them into.

If you log on to the nectar website and register you can change your home store if you have moved or use a new one and then redeem them at that store.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's whether you are at your 'home' store or not. As asharon has suggested, check your home store on the nectar website.
