    On the 'slimey gunk and hair congealed in a disgusting lump' theme...... try a wire coathanger squashed into a diamond shape with the 'hangy bit' squashed flat into a slim hook. Shove the hook down the plughole and twiz it about a bit then pull it out. You'll be amazed at what comes out _pale_.

  • Yes, I suggested the wire coathanger on a similar thread. The amount of uses these things can be put to....I've even used them to pick up stereo FM radio.
    If you don't have a wire coathanger, try a meat skewer instead.
    Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

    All the suggestions above are good - the only thing I'd add is that it's certainly worth clearing 'slight' blockages straight away - or you'll end up with a massive, smelly blockage.
