When I made my daughter's dolls house (sadly now abandoned as she's too old  ) I furnished it from ebay mostly with the bare minimum, figuring she would enjoy getting extras for birthday/xmas/well dones for the rest.
Depending on how good you are with crafts you might be able to make some, but I found the ebay stuff was good and reasonable prices.
Did get some stuff from Dolls House Emporium (and a local dolls house shop) but found that quite an expensive way of getting the stuff.

When I got my little girls dolls house last xmas (bough brand new boxed at car boot £12!) I got loads of accessories around the car boot sales - there were lots of sylvanian families bits and pieces and usually there were 10p or 20p I then packaged them in those little clear ziplock bags that they sell the accessories in in the dolls house shops . For example I bought some nursery items for 20p almost identical ones in the dolls house shop were £8! If you look around you can get lots of furniture too but its important to make sure that they are the same scale so it doesn`t look odd. Another good place is charity shops I think Oxfam and Marie Currie Cancer care are currently selling brand new room sets and dolls for dolls house`s and they are pretty reasonable too. Hope you enjoy your Dolls House!:D0
