It's reported that some Dell battery packs could overheat and so they've issued a free replacement programme.

The models affected are in: Latitude D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800, D810, Inspiron 510M, 600M, 6000, 8600, 9200, 9300, XPS Gen 2, Precision M20, M70

Battery models include: 3K590, C5340, X5308, F5132, U5882, U5867, 6P922, C5446, C2603

    My battery code is F5132 apparently one of the affected codes, but the dell link is saying there is no need for a replacement

    The battery code is just a part number. For example there are a huge number of batteries sold by Dell with that part number.

    However it was only a relatively small percentage which could produce a hazard so are being recalled. Probably about 1%.

    The checker you input the full serial number in to confirms whether your battery was part of the faulty batch or not, by the sounds of things yours is fine.

    Yes, that's because in the USA they pose a fire risk but in the UK they don't. Our jellyfish government has flimsy regulations meaning that although not allowed in the USA, it's fine in the UK.

    Meybe our goverment is s***. Dell are not asking where we live, There only asking for the part number. When you submit the imformation they dont know where it is sent from. So when they tell you that your battery is not affected it isn't.
