Where can I bulk buy high-quality dark chocolate?

It's a long time since I ventured into OS!

I'm making some chocolate puddings this afternoon so boght some chocolate in Lidl yesterday. Since I'm cooking for about 12 I ended up buying 4 packs of 100g.

Is there anywhere I can get access to bigger quantities of dark chocolate (70% + cocoa solids)? Does anyone know if Makro/Costco stock a good range?

What price should I be looking for if I were to buy it in kilogram bars?

Any other chocolatey advice would be great. Thanks all.

I know G&B do a 150g bar of "cooking" chocolate which is 72% (I think) but that's about the largest bar size I've seen. It's in a silver wrapper and is really good.

    Hi

Not sure about Costco but I've never seen any at Makro. I'm going tomorrow (I think) so I'll look out for you. I tend to buy Green and Blacks too only I do find that normally I don't need quite as much of that make as the recipe states as it is often too rich. If I use cheaper chocolate then I do.

It is very expensive though. I would be interested to see how you get on.

Yeah. It does get expensive. Even Lidl's cheapest proper dark chocolate is now 79p a bar. A couple of years ago it was closer to 40p.

Lidl is the cheapest that I've found for buying chocolate, even though they only do the small bars.
The only place that I have heard of getting bulk amounts as in kilo bars or chunks is cooks' supply places, but I have never used any myself and so cannot suggest a specific one. Not very helpful, I know, sorry!

Some times they have some in home bargains (cote d'or 70% i think) for 29p for 100g, But i think its very hit and miss as to the shops having them and i dont think they stay on the shelves for long.

We have a discount Whittards shop and they often have choccy bars on offer, they do 85% bars (big bars) for under £1.00 sometimes. If you can find an 85% bar you won't need so much and can use a lower co-co bar alongside it, without loosing the flavour!

    Hi

I use the Green & Blacks cooking chocolate - if there is a Julian Graves near you stock up when they have their 'everything half price offer'

Tragically Julian Graves have been taken over by Holland & Barrett and there won't be any more 'everything half price' offers....:(:(:(
