CD/DVD tray won't open!

I seem to have a slight problem with my cd/dvd drive in that I can't get it to open :o

I press the button and the light comes on and I can hear the mechanism doing something, or rather trying to, then zilch! It won't open and I want to install a new programme from disc. Any ideas please?

Unbend a paper clip and stick it in the small hole in the player to release the mechanism, and slowly pull the tray out. Then remove the offending CD and then try the tray eject/retraction button again.

Was just about to do as you suggested above and looked down to find the tray magically sitting open! :rotfl:

I guess it didn't fancy being poked by a paperclip, or maybe my continually pressing the button in frustration earlier managed to free up the mechanism. There wasn't a disc in there but I did pull out a large clump of fluff :o so maybe that's what was causing the problem. Thanks anyway, will know what to do if it happens again now :D
