There was a previous topic about loyalty schemes. I travel a fair amount and also stay in hotels alot and wondered if anyone knew the best schemes do earn points and if infact there is actually any benefit to signing up to any of these schemes. I am currently a member on the Ba Miles scheme however in order to get any benefits it seems you have to be a silver/gold member and you need to book at least 4 full price flights in order to qualify - so whats the point of the other miles that you accumlate on say sale price flights ? Or am just being a bit dense here ?
I also am a member of priorityclub.com which works with Crowne plaza, Holiday Inn etc. Again any good ?
I want to make all this travel work for me - it is better just to join a general airmiles program ?
previous post - this only talks about tesco club card etc

For the past 4 years, I have 'treated' my better half to a free weekend away at Valentines using points from Priorityclub, Marriott & HiltonHonors.
By far the best is Priorityclub, and I now try to stay with them over any other brand. Gold status (20k point/15nights stay) gets you 10% extra points per stay & priority check-in, and when you get to Platinum (60k points/50 nights) you get extra 50% points & also a guaranteed 72 hour availability. Which I have used a couple of times when it's been impossible to get a hotel nearby.
They often have bonus points offers (at the moment it's stay 3 nights, get 3000 points) & for a week's stay at the moment, I get enough points for a free night! Save them up for a while, and treat the missus.
Not really worth using points on anything other than hotel stays. None of the other loyalty schemes come close IMHO, and they seem to have a lot more hotels than Hilton/Marriott & in much better locations.0 -
