Anyone work for Boots? Help please!

Options
Can't find a more suitable place for this - it is about income!
My daughter is at college and has just got a Saturday job at Boots - luckily, as none of her EMA has come through yet!). She has just been paid for her first Saturday but not for the training that she did the Saturday before.

I was amazed at this as it was almost a whole day - till about 4pm, is she really expected to attend that for nothing, or is it a mistake? I've always been paid for training in jobs I have done so I wondered if anyone could shed some light on it - is it Boots' policy or are they trying it on because she is temp staff and young?

Thanks!

  • Was she given a contract when she was offered and accepted the position?

The contract or staff handbook should state quite clearly whether training is to be paid or not.

Training usually is paid but I have worked for a company where we had to do 2 weeks training and this was unpaid (and in another city).

My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are E7760/3970. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. Atol numbers can be checked with the Civil Aviation Authority. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.
  • Hi, I work for Boots and Im sure they will pay her for going into train. Sometimes takes a while for payment to come through for new joins, ask her to see her team manager to see if they put her down on the salary sheet for that week.
