Question Please.

Hi all,
Was just wondering if somebody can answer something for me please?
Can you pay A+L credit cards or Virgin credit cards with the giro slips at the PO or in the bank with cash?
I do have DDs set up for minimum payment and do make extra payments over the internet from my current account. The reason I'm asking is that my DH gets £150 pension p/m and my DD gives us £150 board and we get tips..so wanted to pay them in in chunks off my CC.
Due to my cards being interest free instead of leaving loads of money in my current account I'm going to put it in my offset account untiljust before the 0% runs out.
I've currently been paying big chunks off over the internet and I keep this money seperate.

Why dont you phone them & ask them to send you some giro slips or if you have previos statments you could use the slips on them.

Could you send the money to them as a cheque with a letter asking them to apply it to the balance of account no. and write the account no. on the cheque to be on the safe side.

Sorry perhaps I haven't worded my question properly.
I have giro slips on the bottom of the bills.I have read the back of the bills and it doesn't say anything about POs.There is no point in sending a cheque off as I can pay on the internet.I have also checked the PO site which is pretty useless for information.
I thought maybe some people on DFW had paid either of these two bills at the PO or at A+L with the giro slips.I will ask at the PO on monday.
My problem is I keep my tips,my DHs pension and my DDs board in cash in the house.....the rest of my money goes through the account all the earnings etc...so I can keep track for the accountant.
I pay minimum DD through the bank to both CCs and extras that are left in the accounts towards them via internet payments.
I was going to use the cash in the house to make overpayments and not put it through the bank IYSWIM.I have had other cards halifax, barclays etc that I've paid with cash in those banks but never MBNA ones.
    Thanks anyway x
  • im sure with the A & L one you ..can't pay.. through post office just bank's

...was thinking of doing that myself i pay bank of scotland visa at end of each month but was going to ask if i can get extra payments slips to make extra payments towards visa account
  • I have had MBNA cards, I know I have always paid them off in the bank not the PO.

But I suspect thats mainly due to the hoardes of old ladies in PO. I dont see why you can't use the PO to make payments. It doesn't say anything about ways to pay on the MBNA website (big suprise).

hmmm. I think with the slip at the bottom you could pay it, I mean the PO is supposed be just like a bank, you can gas bills etc they use the same slips on their bills?

    xx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

They have cooperative bank printed on them the nearest one is 35 miles from here.It says you can pay at other banks but there may be a charge and nothing about PO.
I will ask at PO on monday and failing that will check with A+L when I go in there. Thanks anyway.
  • You can certainly pay A&L cards in their branches with cash, as I used to do this before i set up my DD. Don't know about the PO or the Virgin card tho sorry.
