Does anyone remember the thread of a girl who was trying to clear her £10,000 debt on here without using her wages? although a lot of people on here thought it was highly suspect and rightly so. I just wondered does anyone know what the website address that she had going as i thought of going to have a look on it to see if she had actually made any inroads into it and has made a dent in her debt.
Many thanks guys

Interesting reading... Thanks

Are you also able to help to locate the original thread as mentioned in the OP?"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

That's really nice - thanks!
It's going OK. I'm definitely not on target, but I've probably made about £1000 - which is better than nothing. I've learnt quite a lot in the last few months though and it's definitely been interesting. I think you're right on the lots of talk and not enough action though, fairylights.
Te fact that someone is going to match the money and give it to charity is a very nice thing....www.onegirloneyear.co.uk0 -
One girl, I just had a look and to be honest without mentioning which charity the money is going to or how you are going to split the money amoungst charities etc that aspect doesnt appear very genuine (not an accusation just an observation). Saying that it is a 'private' individual is not really enough to convince anyone, as a glib mention of charity means that no one will ever know if you have collected (or your private doner) for charity or not. When will the individual be giving it, incrimentally or in a lump sum at a certain date etc etc.
If you mention the charity, then it will appear far more convincing, as of course it is an offence to forcify that a donation will be made in order to encourage money to be given. I can't find the piece of legislation, but be careful of that.0 -
I'd not heard of this before, so best wishes for your mission.onegirl wrote:That's really nice - thanks!

Although I know nothing of the figures you're working with, a fundamental flaw is that you're keeping the money in a savings a/c, rather than using the money raised to immediately attack your debts. Surely all the time that the money is sitting idle in the bank, your debts are going to continue charging interest at a rate much higher than you'll earn in a savings a/c? (Unless of course, all your debts are currently at 0% in which case I fully agree with you.)
Good luck!

I would never, ever make up that money was going to charity to encourage people to help me! I haven't put more information yet as I don't really have any. The person that made the offer wishes to remain annoymous, so I am going to respect that. And I haven't put up which charity the money is going to yet as I haven't decided. It is something that I'm currently looking into, as I don't want to just stick a big named charity up there to try and attract attention - I want it to be something I really think about. I'm not asking for money and I'm not trying to rip anybody off....
Thanks for the luck and advice, Dave. You're definitely right and I'm going to take that advice.www.onegirloneyear.co.uk0 -
Ok, sorry Onegirl.
But your website would be alot more useful if you had a running total on there with more detail on exactly how you have made the money all in one place.
After all, thats what your readers are most interested in.
To be seen as more credible, you need to show exactly what has been made, when and how much the total is.0 -
I know you're right. I've got 'Running Total' on the Coming soon bit, as I know that's all people are interested in. I suppose it's just fear of failure that has delayed that going up sooner... Am hoping to sort that out when I have a bit more free time over Christmas.www.onegirloneyear.co.uk0
