Income question

Hi, ive booked a BR date for myself & my partner (19th Decenmber, courts a bit busy at min!!) and ive been working out our SOA.
When working out monthly income do you just go off weekly wage slip or will i have to work out average weekly pay from last years P60?
Most weeks oh just works a flat week, but occasionly he does have overtime which puts his wage up quite a lot.
If we have to pay an IPA that's fine, but i dont want to be given one based on an average weekly wage with overtime that isn't garunteed.
Also can i include money that we have to repay for child tax credits?
They messed up when i went back to work so we have to repay them out of our current award.
Thanks for taking the time to look

    Hi,
The overtime isn't guaranteed so who's to say that you are going to get it over the next few months. Last years income is not relevant to your current soa.
Probably best to put down what you are getting on basic pay unless you have recently had some massive payslips. If things change and you start getting above your basic income on a regular basis you can always tell the OR of the change.
I know that all OR's are different but I discussed very similar circumstances with mine and he told me to do just that.
    Good luck

  • Sorry another question, when working out weekly wage do you x wage by 52 then divide by12 to get monthly average?
  • Thanks Tommo20

My O level in sums tells me you are correct.
Just be careful with the averaging thingy because your average can fall off even over a short period. You are effectivley predicting your income if you factor in o/t and bonuses etc.

I fell foul of this during my IVA. They looked at my bank statements and told me what my average income was, problem was over the next six months something happened in europe (still don't know what but I blame the French:mad: ) and my industry slowed down.......no o/t no bonus payments....oh dear can't keep to the agreed payments.
