Speaking for my hubbie, he would like the class to club together to buy him a Porsche!

  • My mum is a teacher and gets various things.

    I would suggest:

A card for each - you should see if your child can make their own, it only needs to be a piece of card folded & with their drawings / glitter etc on it - these always go up in our house.

I would also say that chocolate is a favourite choice, as is wine, but, if your child is taking it to school smellies are always a favourite too, and easy - a bath bomb from lush doesn't cost that much. sainsburys and tescos also have really nice santuary type products that are fairly cheap.

I know these are the wildest of ideas, but I think it is important to not go overboard too as otherwise you will spend a fortune. At least you'll know that food / smellies will get used by someone, rather than an ornament which might not be appreciated.

I think buy for them what you would buy any person you didn't know too well, i.e. nothing too personal or likely to cause offence, and, if you want, something related to their job - a nice book can be a winner if you know what your teacher does in his / her spare time, and charity shops can be a good source for this - no-one need be any the wiser.

Good luck, and remember you don't have to give a present so if you decide to only give what you can really afford

    TQ

  • Have a wee look at the stocking fillers thread for some great, cheap ideas.

If you have an Ikea nearby what about a candle for each. They have some lovely smelling ones in a glass for about £1.
Ikea also do plants very cheap or the bamboo stick that you put in water.

  • How about visiting the World Vison page, can't remember the address. You could but the teachers a present for the poor countries like a fruit tree or a mosquito net. Teachers get loads of choccies etc this might be a bit different

I usually allocate up to £5 per teacher, we get a pack of gift bags and fill them with bits n bobs like:

For the ladies each bag has
A mini box of chos @£1 each (get them in wollies)
Bath Bombs or small bottle of bubble bath (via boots offers ;D)
Floating candle sets or gelly candle set @ £1 (from pound shops ... they are very nice too)
My little girl also puts in a letter saying "hope you have a wonder evening relaxing with your gifts"

She has 2 male teachers this year ... so that'll be fun working out what to get them lol lol ..... still if we get stuck, can give them the usual and they can let their wives enjoy them and get brownie points too ;D
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!

I thunk I've made you think for a minute!

I'm not a teacher, I'm one of those meanie mums who hasn't ever given her children's teachers a present so I'd second that. If you can afford to give little presents, great, but don't feel you have to.

I think there are some lovely ideas here: and last time I was in Morrisons they had some super candles for £1 each. Looked far classier than that.

Also if you're near a Hawkin shop or ordering from their catalogue they have some paper soap leaves which I think would make an excellent little present for a teacher: real novelty value. £2 I think - whoops no, £2.99 which I think is plenty to spend on a teacher! http://www.hawkin.com

    My husbands a teacher.

He tends to get a lot of wine and cans of guiness. I'm sure the school must think he's alcoholic :o:o
Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
  • This year has decided to get my children to make a Christmas cake mix, then collected little tins to make minature cakes which they will ice and decorate - managed to make 5 little cakes from one amount of mixture.

If anyone would like my recipe let me know

(took around 20 mins prep - and thats with a 3 and 5 year old helping to crack eggs and mix !)
