Don't know much myself! Except thaT it is completely FREE, to anywhere in the world, providing the person you are calling also has a Skype phone. And, it seems that many people do because lots of places offer SKYPE call numbers nowadays.
But somebody else with much more info will no doubt answer you with much better info :)

  • Shipping is £7.40 though isn't it.

You just need to install some free software and you can use the service, as stated above calls, computer to computer, between skype users are free, most other calls and including international are cheaper.
For charged calls you do a prepay (get cashback via quidco) and your balance is displayed on screen. Give it a shot, nothing to lose.

You don't even need a skype phone, a pair of head phones and a microphone will do. Many laptops have built in mics, so just wear a pair of earphones so the other person doesn't hear an echo.
