Oregano substitute?

I have some tuna steaks (yellow stickered) which I have decided to marinade before cooking. (I have never cooked tuna before)
I googled for a recipe and found one which looks good, but it calls for 2 tbsps of fresh oregano. I couldn't find any in Tescos so googled again and found suggestions to use marjoram (which I don't have...) or a combination of basil and parsley (which I do have...)
But do you think the basil/parsley mixture will taste OK with tuna?

Comments

  • I'm sure it will be fine. IMHO the best herb to go with tuna is coriander and griledd tuna which has been marinaded in lime and corinader is hard to beat.
  • I agree with Haribo ;) Basil and/or parsley will taste great and so will coriander. Obviously each herb has a different flavour but they are all robust enough to stand up to the meatiness of tuna.
  • Thank you - I don't have any coriander, so it will have to be basil and parsley! The recipe also has lemon juice in it by the way....
