Ending shorthold tenancy agreement early

Now moved to Renting, Buying, Property or something like that!!!!

Good afternoon all, I need some advice on something and I've been searching the net and just can't seem to find a clear cut answer to this.
Basically, I'm moving on 22nd of this month, only agreed this yesterday hence the short notice. Now the flat I'm in currently initially started on a signed Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreement for 6 months, when this came up in August I received a letter stating that an annual rent increase was being introduced and if I was happy to continue then I could. It was worded like this:-
"Perhaps you could confirm that you wish to continue your tenancy at £680pcm under your current contract which will continue on a roll-on basis with all terms and conditions staying the same".

There is nothing in the agreement about terminating early, but obviously this was only for the initial 6 months, but there is nothing at all about what happens afterwards. I'm unsure now whether I'm on a 6 month rolling contract or a month to month one.
Now my rent is due on the 21st for this month, so where do I stand on giving notice? How many days do I need to give (I assume it's one month), but will I need to pay the full amount of rent as 30 days notice would mean that I'll only be there for half of the month. I think that's all I'm confused about, I'm sure I'll think of something else though :p
Any help would be much appreciated

    Hi

You would get a better response from the Renting, selling house forum.

    maybe fermi can move you?

I think the basic is once your tenancy is on a rolling contract you have to give one month's notice, starting on the day your rent is due. So if you are due to pay rent on 21st, you have to give one month notice on that date.

Means paying rent on two places, but that is the law.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
