nPower's new tariff
I've just found this today, I don't know if anyone else has seen it yet.
nPower have a new tariff for those on a low income. I think it's for existing customers.
It's called the 'Spreading Warmth' tariff and gives an annual discount of £125 per fuel.
The conditions are that your annual income is less than £13,500 AND someone in the household meets one of the following criteria:-
Over 60
Disabled
Suffer from a chronic illness
Have a child under 16
Please check the website for details.

There's a (free)phone number to ring to check eligibility, and they'll switch you there and then, it takes only a few minutes.

Does anyone know how thoroughly npower check the eligibility of customers they put on the new tariff? If they are not checking thoroughly does that mean they have something to gain from putting people on this tariff? Surely if it is a genuine discount they would ask for proof of entitlement, or a NI number? It concerns me that people that are already suffering hardship would be lulled into paying more overall, but thinking they are getting a discount.0
