Loop nylon - I think that's what it's called

I want to buy about 2 metres of the material that you find on the velcro friendly display boards - or a couple of cheap display boards - for something I want to do in my kid's room. I've only been able to find the material in complete rolls - anyone know where I can get it? Or - what else would velcro hook onto ?

cheers

  • When I was working at a primary school at the beginning of the year I bought this stuff from Homebase. They sell each part of the velcro seperately on the roll. I bought about 4m at the time and it was only a few pounds. Obviously you only cut the length that you need. I'm pretty certain they still sell it. :rudolf:
  • Hi - thanks for the reply. Is that the rolls of hook and loop tape you referring to? I'm looking for the material so that I actually make a display board and not use any pins - does that make sense, probably not.

    thanks

  • Oh sorry. That makes perfect sense now, being a bit blonde!! You want a whole sheet of it. :snow_laug
  • Just thought, if you don't find any, could you make a magnetic notice board? You could buy some mdf and paint it with magnetic paint? Or does it have to be attached using velcro?
  • hmm - maybe - it's so that I can put up pictures of different things / people etc - probably never get round to it right enough. I guess if I used magnetic stuff then I'd need to make the things that I was putting up magnetic too - oh my head hurts :-)

You can get magnetic tape with a sticky back. Probably at a craft shop, as you can use it for fridge magnets.

Or you can get Gripping Stuff noticeboards, easiest of all, because you just throw whatever you want on the wall at the noticeboard, and peel it off later.

Or a big roll of Gripping Stuff tape. I swear by the stuff, won't have blu-tak in the house!

  • I think what you are looking for is called brushed nylon, and I've even found you some! How about this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Beautiful-Navy-Brushed-nylon-fabric_W0QQitemZ8227593423QQcategoryZ28159QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If you're not convinced it's brushed nylon you want, you could ask seller a question or even ask them to send you a little sample :)
