CCCS and/or Payplan?

Trying to sort out my debts of £27,000... I have done a quick search but still need more info - do CCCS and Payplan work together?? If not which one do I go to?
thanks
Maggie

    Hi Margaret,
Well done on starting to get things sorted, as far as I know they don't work together and most people who are with Payplan (I am) would recommend them and most people with CCCS would recommend them. They are both good organisations and are very helpful to people in our situations. Good luck.

    Hi Maggie

A good place to start would be to post your SOA (Statement of Affairs) lets see if we can cut your outgoings click here. for your SOA.

As you can see from my signature I'm with PP, for me I cannot fault them, but I'm sure those with CCCS will say the same.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional
  • Hiya CCCS all the way for me....been with them 2 years and the postman does not scare me anymore...professional, non-judgemental and most importantly....free, good luck and well done for posting!
:DBeen with CCCS since March 07....MSE gave me a shove to my LB moment!!!:T
  • Thanks all for your responses - so good not to feel alone. I'm considering a DMP but don't want to close my bank acct - don't know if there is a way round it. Have also spoken to bank First Direct, they couldn't offer me a personal loan but suggested maybe a mortgage - know this is not a good solution but running out of ideas (and sleep) and I haven't told my husband (have tried so many times) and I'm pregnant........will post soa 10past6 thanks x

Hi, I went with cccs and have paid off 5 debts in a year, with there help, and have managed to end my DMP with them after a year as my finances are sorted, so i personally would recommend them. I did have to change bank accounts but got a Debit card with Halifax. Its there most basic bank card but you can still pay in shops using chip and pin which is what i wanted. (If you don't change banks there is a chance that your bank will take money out of your account to recover some of the debt)
They are so friendly and helpful. Hope this is usefully.

Another vote for CCCS. I've been with them since the beginning of the year and they've been brilliant. Neither Payplan nor CCCS charge you a fee for the dmps so I guess it's up to you who you go to.

I was advised also to change bank account not linked to any of my credtors, before starting on my dmp. I went with a Natwest Step account with Solo card which is fine for my needs.

Good luck with whichever company you decide to go with and well done for posting and choosing a FREE dmp provider.

Hi, well done on taking the first steps. We're with Payplan and they've been brilliant :D .

I think the main difference between CCCS and Payplan is how they work out the payments. Payplan do pro-rata on outstanding balance and CCCS do pro-rata on minimum payment. The CCCS way caused a few problems for people with Northern Rock loans as they owed a lot of money but were paying low monthly payments, so NR were only getting a small DMP payment and got aggresive. Not sure if I've explained that very well :o .

What I'm trying to say is it might be worth speaking to both organisations and looking to see that your creditors are all getting an equal share with the system that you choose.

Good luck and pop into the DMP Support thread, everyone there is really helpful.
