Advice needed guys, re barclaycard old debt

I had a two barclaycards many many years ago and was paying £10 per month off a £1500 balance so you can imagine it took me years to pay. I made what I thought was the last payment back in august 2004 and heard nothing more.

Suddenly out of the blue this morning Barclaycard have written saying I owe them £61.63 on one account and £53.67 on another. They also say they will no longer be sending me statements and interest will continue to be added at the current rate. Firstly I have never received any statements from them for donkeys years so had to rely on my own calculations and secondly they agreed to stop all interest on the card at the initial time. They want a reply by thurs 22nd dec or are going to send the boys round or take legal action.
Whilst I admit, yes I did have these cards I sincerely thought I had finished paying them.

If they've never sent you any statements, write to them requesting full statements for however long you've been paying them. Send it Recorded Delivery. Do you have written proof that they promised to freeze interest?

I would just say you're not necessarily disputing the amounts, but given that they failed to provide any statment of payments over the years and you've not received any contact from them for over a year , you need to see the proof in black and white.

Just been trying to find any old paperwork with regards to this and it looks like I haven't had any statements from Barclaycard since back in 1997. I knew it was years ago.
Anyway as per your advice, I have written a letter asking for any documentary evidence to state that this amount is still outstanding.
