Are these human smells ...or dog or cat smells?
My brother's dog weed on his rug and even after trying Vax and hiring a rug doctor, he has had to throw the rug away!!
It was a woollen rug that he had paid a fortune for...if your carpet isn't wool then you may have some luck!
Sorry...probably wasn't the answer you were looking for!!0 -
I found these on the Vinegar Books website, might be worth a try.

I know that really wetting the stain and then absolutely covering in bicarbonate of soda to soak up the water then vacumming up the powder sometimes worksGC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

You can buy something called 'Urine Off' online and from some pet shops, and that's supposed to be very good. When we moved into a house that had problems lol, we hired a rug doctor and used the odour remover that you can get to use with that. It seemed to work pretty well for us.0

If the underlay is soiled as well no amount of treating the carpet will have much affect on the underlay stinking..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

nice cheap tescos soda water does the trick, my aunty seen kim and agy use it on how clean is your house, she tried it on a rug her dog and peed on and swore by it, we went through a spell where 1 of our dogs started peeing in the same spot in the hall (shes over it now) as its a dark carpet there was no stain but man was there a smell, used the 4 bottles of tescos soda water (£1.44 for 4) and it worked a treat
,, what we did was use the soda water in the vax and also pored a lot on the spot and and let it dry, you need to make sure it gets right down to the underlay or the smell will never go away.
