Thats not how you worded your post though. It was worded as if no one shouold use a broker because we are all a waste of space....

There will always be bad brokers, we know that and we as brokers get on thier backs about it (the 3% fee gang etc), but the majority are decent honest people.

Yes, our profession seems to have a bad reputation.

People will always want to talk abou the one broker in 10 who ripped them off, rather than the nine out of ten who did a great job.

One of my clients rang me this afternoon, after calculating his tracker will now go down to 3.26%:D .
He said how grateful he was that I had recommended the tracker over the fixed last January.
It's moments like that which make all the effort seem worthwhile

LOL....Its a pretty sad state of affairs with some brokers to be fair.....I just had some abuse of a "fellow broker" on the broker forum with the fruity name, because I have given some replies about various lead generation companies who are bascially con merchants.......I try to help out my colleagues and end up getting abuse and accused of being unable to get leads / close business.........

Sounds like words of on of the 3% fee gang....if our own colleagues are prepared to bad mouth us proper brokers for no reason (when I was trying tot help!!), theres no hope for much respect from the populous as a whole either.

My advisor? Told him what my deposit was and what I would need to borrow. He went away, found me a mortgage. Had a meeting, showed me the deal, did exactly what I wanted (tracker for life of mortgage, offset facility, no penalties for overpaying) and I signed the papers. Job done.

Cost me nothing but was with a lender I didn't even know did mortgages, and I would have never got a mortgage on the high street... and got a good deal (for my circumstances!!)

That is a sad state of affairs indeed.

I've always tried to maintain a good relationship with fellow brokers ( even the ones I am in direct competition with).
A few times in the old days, I'd ask my main rival in the town to drop in a spare application form for a certain lender if I'd run out and had an urgent sign up. I'd also do the same for him.

We all have a lot in common,. so it is better to all be friends than enemies.

As you say Mike, it's the ones with the hidden agendas who tend to get all defensive.

To be honest brokers should be supporting each other, especially with the way things are at the moment. Thats one of the things I like about here - I think all the brokers (apart from that guy who kept posting in red, who seems to have dissapeared now) get on and ive had PM conversations with many brokers from here and everyone pretty much gets on........The problem with "the fruity place" is that is has so many members you are bound to get some of the "bad eggs" on there who will act in that manner.

To be honest I suspect that the person in question has something to do with the lead company I posted about, as they have a brokerage too......guess what, they charge a 2% fee each time.......I might be wrong, but as you point out, theres probably a hidden agenda.

Water off a ducks back anyway.......I will continue to answer quesitons on there of my experiences weather they are positive or negative.
