Buchanan Clark and Wells - Advice Needed

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can advice me about this, it would be greatly appreciated.

My brother has an outstanding debt with Talk Talk of around £185. He has settled with them to pay so much every week/month. So far he has payed £71 of the debt.

But yesterday he has had a letter from Buchanan Clark and Wells (BCW) saying he owes them £206 for the above debt. The letter wasn't very nice and was threatening debt collectors and something about his credit. So he is worried about it.

What should he do? Has anyone been in a similar situation with this company?

  • Also have a nosey at this to see how DCAs SHOULD behave

There is a doc called 'debt collection guidance'

  • I too am dealing with this company

I am currently being threatened with doorstep collection for an outstanding bill - I've told BCW I will happily pay what I owe when the amount is revised (the argument is that I left the property a few months before the date they're trying to charge me until). Problem I'm having is that every time they ask me for more evidence of when I left the property, I send what they ask for only to be told after a couple of weeks (the time it seems to take for them to update systems etc) that the evidence isn't sufficient!!
  • I too am having problems with BCW! I was sent a letter from them and rang them off my neighbours phone. The guy I spoke to was hostile and adament I had to pay immediately... I was then asked for a financial breakdown of my income... being disabled I felt threatened by this man and told him I was not prepared to discuss what I spent my DLA on with him... since then they have phoned my neighbours phone over and over again leaving messages and totally embarrassing me... Advice anyone please???

    Jantay,
You may be best staarting a thread of your own, or maybe one of the Mods could move it for you, you may get more response that way.
If you have a letter from them, there is a letter you can send requiring all future communications to be in writing, sorry don't know how to post a link!! Also not sure about the Data Protection angle of phoning your neighbours, someone with better knowledge will be along shortly!
