Wet Leather Gloves

Options
Hi there, hope this is the right place to ask for help on this little problem.

I lost my leather glove last Thursday evening (15/12) and couldn't find it anywhere. This morning (20/12) I found it in the gutter outside the house soaking wet

Thing is now, how do I dry it out? I've wrapped it up in a towel and put a piece of old flanette sheeting inside to see if it will soak it up. I keep pressing it down. Will this work?

Thanks.

I've not had this problem to deal with but I would try pegging it from the very tip of one fingertip so that the glove dries upside down...........which will allow air to ciculate in and around the glove and fingers as it dries.

If you don't have one of those tidy-dry driers to peg the glove onto, tie a peg onto a length of string and then attach the string to your shower rail........the glove should dry slowly.

    Good luck

I had somthign like this a year or two back where my fur lined leather gloves got soaked.

I put the in the airing cupboard after getting what water I could out with a towel and kitchen towel.

When they were dry they had gone very still and look like it would be better to throw them in the bin. But we had some dubbing(sp) and used that on them and after a time the softened up again and are as good as new.

I dont think they keep my hands warm anymore after getting wet but I use silk glove liners so it does not matter.

  • Would a low heat hairdryer help - or would that ruin the glove?
