Nationwide Think I owe £771 when i paid FF with DCA!

Hi People

I dont know where to do with this one but wondered if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction before i get a Default.

A few years ago i had a loan with Nationwide, got behind with payments and they sent the balance to a DCA (Roxbourge) and didnt leave a Default just kept puting either 1,2,3,4,5 and then 6,6,6 in payments in arreas on Credit File.

I Then paid the DCA for a few months and then asked for a Full and Final Settlement. I paid over the phone for £1600 and they sent me a letter which states:

"Dear Mr Nicholls

RE: Your Aggreement with: Nationwide Trust Limited
Account Number: 0070070/1*******8301
Our Ref Number: 209****69
Balanace Outstanding: £0.00

I acknowledge reciept of your payment of £1600.00 which has been credited to your above numbered account reducing the balance to the amount shown above.

Yours Sincerly

Roxburge Uk Limited"

However i have now checked the credit file and it now have a Satisfactary with a Green 0 and Current Balance £727

Who should i contact to say Settled? As Roxburge think the loan is now settled as per the letter?

Richard

This is an example why you must always get a notice of assignment BEFORE dealing with a DCA . In some cases the OC will sell a debt to a DCA, but in some cases they use them as agent to collect on an account . It could be this DCA have taken a fee and passed only some other money to the OC . The OC will say they never agreed to a reduced settlement figure , and could now appoint another collection company to recover the balance . Also we advise never to give a DCA direct debit details , it has been know for them to withdraw more than agreed .

    a little unclear

are nationwide asking you to pay 771 or is this merely showing on your credit file ?
