My brother-in-law received a letter today informing him that he has won a 15" TV for completing a survey from
acxiom ltd
park house
station road
teddington
He seems to remember doing a survey for our local council with this as a prize and all they are asking for is a form filled in with his name and address, daytime telephone no and then there is a statement saying that he agrees that they can use his details in publicity and a space for his signature.
It seems genuine and as they already have his name and address I can't see what harm it would do but I wanted to see what you guys think for him:D
Thanks for your comments in advance:rotfl:

Sorry just doing some digging... whois says:
"Domain name:
acxiom.co.uk
Registrant:
Acxiom Corporation
Registrant type:
Non-UK Corporation
Registrant's address:
1 Information Way
PO Box 8180
Little Rock
Arkansas
72203
US"
seems it could be a US company... will be back with more info if I find any... :beer:0 -
I've been on the web site, I had a quick Google about to see what I could find and they look totally genuine. Like I said the details they want they already have, they just want them on their form to confirm they are correct and with the bit about can we use your name for publicity.
I just wish he'd keep details of what he does as if our council send him a survey through the post he does it and keeps no record of it at all:o"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

"Acxiom clients include 14 of the 15 biggest credit card companies, seven of the top ten auto manufacturers and five of the top six retail banks. The company also analyses consumer databases for multinationals such as Microsoft, IBM, AT&T and General Electric."
seems they might check out alright... hope the TV comes for your b-i-l...:beer:0 -
They deffo seem to do surveys through the post with various councils to compile a data base of the population I just wondered if the form he has to fill in is standard for these things?
They haven't got the internet to check anything out so they asked me if it was a scam or real.
The letter gave a phone no for the place and a contact name to phone if you had any doubts but as my sister said you could be phoning anywhere!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138
