unless its faulty why would it be an issue?!

if it was a pressie then the person that bought it is at fault...

Can anyone complete check out on Boots.Com??? I have been trying since Boxing Day Morning. The helpline says only some people are able to access this depending on their compatability with the Boots web site!!! Whats all that then????
sounds like they've had a major crash!
  • A quick reply to your Colin McCrae return, don't just accept a blank no from the first face you come across. As long as the game is still sealed a small amount of common sense and an interest in your future business and comments to friends will ensure that any Argos manager will say yes.

A bit unfair in Argos though as you cannot see the goods before you pay. But you don't have to shop there.

You can actually see any item before purchasing if you tell the cashier that you'd like to view the item! Although that wouldn't have helped the OP obviously...

Most Argos employees do not have the power to process a refund on anything which is exempt from the 30 day guarantee, but nice employees will ask their manager to authorise a gift-card refund if the product is sealed!

As previous posters have said, I am not complaining about Argos policy to refund on unwanted goods (which is probably over an above their legal obligation assuming the items are not faulty) but I do wonder (like the OP) why some items are excluded. I can understand items with memory and/or items with hygiene issues like earrings, however I bought a FreeSat box and they said this was excluded from their returns policy too. I also think that Argos should offer some sort of refund policy for unwanted goods because, unlike most shops, you are not able to examine the goods before you pay for them... more like distance selling really.

The freesat and freeview boxes became exempt because people were purchasing them before major football games and then returning them afterwards!

I kind of have sympathywith customers over this. It is a catalogue shop, but if you were to order from Littewoods, Kays etc., you could return unopened. ALthough you can view products in Argos,it's nothing like takin your time over them at home, or having ademonstration in Comets.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

argos are tightening up now i think. before they never used to care about the date as long as u had a receipt.

the blanket scenario sounds bad, i would've demanded a refund or replacement there on the spot. the whole 'sending away to manufacturers thing' is time consuming and a waste of time. just replace and they claim whatever losses back!

recently whislty in cust services q, some lady bought back a kettle and she took out the xtra warranty on it. the button had broken and the woman said 'buttons are not part of the manufacture' so therefore isnt covered under the guarantee'. the woman was like 'so whats the point of the extra warranty, she said 'only the inside parts are covered, the button is not part of the kettle'.

    i couldnt believe it.
  • the returns policy is printed in the back of the cat it does state what they are entitled to do for you as for vgs being exempt well people would borrow them for a day or two when there friends came over and return them when they were done with them hence they are now exempt
