Not sure if I am posting this in the correct place, apologies if it needs moving.
Just over a week ago asked this question in a local tesco and also on the tesco direct number they said it will start from 1st November (if necessary you can return after xmas if its for a pressie) but can`t find this info anywhere and they are not advertising it. Please does anyone know?

I wanted to buy a mobile phone for a Xmas pressie last week and the cashier told me that it was 28 days if I wanted to return it. Over that it would have to be faulty. So I didn't buy it because a lot of shops give you till January to return it. Would also like to know if this is true or not.0

I need to buy something, but am waiting until I find out - told by 2 different members of staff but its not confirmed or written anywhere!
Maybe someone else will come along soon and be able to let us know... if not will send himself into the local store at the weekend to try and find out (I`d go but away with work!! thats my excuse)0 -
I`ve just had this reply from Tesco Direct, hope I`m allowed to print it.... hope it helps.
We're happy to offer an exchange or a refund on any item, as long as it's returned within 28 days, with the receipt or proof of purchase. The item also has to be in exactly the same condition as it was when it was sold. This includes all tags, although these do not have to be attached, all the parts, the packaging etc.
We apply a Seasonal Refund Policy Amendment from 1st November to 31st January to items given or received as Christmas Gift. Under this amendment the 28 day time limit for refunds starts on 25th December, but the start of the warranty is still the day of purchase.
Please remember that your right to return an item is always restricted for certain items and these restrictions apply to Christmas gifts as well. Some items can't be returned unless they are faulty and I have listed these below.
You cannot return any CD, DVD, video and computer software, unless it is faulty. In that case the exchange will be restricted to an exchange for the same title due to the problem of unlicensed copying.
We also can't accept returns for items which cannot be resold for health and hygiene reasons once they have been unwrapped. These include body jewellery, mattresses, sofabeds, divans and personal grooming products.
Flat pack furniture that has been partially or fully assembled can't be returned nor can appliances which have been installed using our installation service, unless they are faulty.
I hope this has clarified things for you and thank you for contacting Tesco Direct.0
