  • Bankruptcy is a huge thing, and you need to be kind to yourself and allow time to sort out the emotional turmoil that comes with it. If you had a major operation instead, it would takes months to heal.

I became BR in June, and most of the time now I am OK and am taking a longer view of it, and enjoying the release from debt. For a long time, I was very withdrawn, would read, watch TV, sleep. Some days I would not even come downstairs, let alone step outside the front door.

I did actually have a panic attack, and because my family were so concerned, I went to the docs and got Citalopram which helped.

Please give it time to all become a more distant memory, and live quietly for a while. It is hard not to torture yourself, and to dread each post, btu you are dealing with it, and you will be OK, and what can they do to you? Nothing much really, and certainly nothing you can't handle. Please, please, give yourself some slack, and keep posting.

In a few months your experiences will be like gold-dust to new posters on this site. Please look after yourself. Believe me, you will be fine.

My doc gave me citalopram although I have not taken any yet but if it gets too much they are there. My faily are very anti- the anti depr tab route they frown on it and make shrewd comments and I don't think I could put up with that at the moment.
  • Hi Gazza,

They take a couple of weeks to start working, as they build up slowly. They are not addictive. I am anti the anti-dp route too, but these are extreme circumstances, and they did help me. Why not have a talk with your doc about them?

    Hi all

i have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for the last 7 months and starting to feel better now, but one bit of advise i would give is this. try always to be relaxed, stress building up over along time really takes it's toll.

read alot about stress managment there are some good websites and books you can get from bookstores, you would'nt believe how just breathing correctly can have a big effect on your body, making you more relaxed and fending of panic. one thing that always helped me was the fact that a panic attack can not hurt you, you may feel like the world is going to end but trust me it is'nt, it will pass.

the drugs from the Doc is different for everyone some people couldnt be without them and end up on them for along time. i myself decide not to take them as i was scared of getting hooked and having to reley on them. if they make you feel better then you may be afraid to come off them incase you get stressed and panicky again. but as i said everyone is different and as i said everyone is differnt. i can say from my own experiance i thank God that i didnt take them as i have got better naturally, and i would hate to still be on them now afraid to come of them.

but anyway hope this helps, remeber relax and there are always people out there and on this forum who are willing to give abit of advice, all the best.

  • hi all thankyou fro your support .i havent heard any more from th o.r yet am i meant to????
been very ill with depression so am back on anti depressents 3 days now and last night had the best sleep id had in ages .
its all still playing on my mind and i try not to think negativly i still find myself worrying that the o.r will need something from me i dont have in way of paperwork and the worse case senario would be asking me to go for a face to face interveiw was made bankrupt on the 14 oct and had an over the phone interveiw the next day has this ever happened to anyone???
  • You have just given a complete stranger the right to look into your life (financially) for upto the past 5 years or so (the norm is 12 to 24 months though), and now have feel you have no control what may happen......And your surprsied you feel like you do?

BR is not easy to go through for nearly everyone that i have seen on this board, all the things your feeling are the norm, they do settle down slowly, but you have to make yourself believe, and accept what is done is done, and try not to dwell on what if,s.

There is nothing nasty the OR can do, and if you have a simple case you may not even hear from them again until you get discharged.

It really is something you build up in your mind, i did it too, but it will fade given time
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
